Tabu to her credit has received the National Film Award for Best Actress twice, and she even has the record of four Filmfare's Critics Award for Best Female Performer. Even with a few exceptions, Tabu is well-known for acting in creative, low-budget movies that go on to gather more critical approval than extensive box office statistics. Her presence in commercially successful movies were not much, and her roles that she played in these particular movies were short, like the list has Border, Hum Saath-Saath Hain: We Stand United,
Saajan Chale Sasural and Biwi No.1. Her most remarkable presentations comprised of movies like Maachis, Hu Tu Tu, Virasat, Chandni Bar, Cheeni Kum, Maqbool, Astitva, etc. In Mira Nair’s American flick The Namesake also gathered huge success for the actress.Considered as one of the most gifted Indian female actress of her generation, Tabu is acknowledged to be quite choosy about her characters she plays and she once mentioned that she do movies that move her from inside. Tabu is the recipient of the 2011 Padma Shri India's fourth-highest civilian award. This brilliant actress has also featured on the Vogue India's cover page in 2009 issue.
